A "silver lining" of the current economic recession is that State government has been forced to take a hard look at how it operates, how revenue is collected and, what are necessary expenditures/programs. In a nutshell, the State has been forced to operate like the rest of the business community. As we slowly climb out of this economic hole, the Legislature needs to remain vigilant in protecting the financial interests of its citizens while only funding necessary and essential services. State government cannot be the "end all and be all" for everyone. For every One Dollar ($1.00) that is raised, State government should spend 90 cents and set aside 10 cents into a rainy day fund.
